Meatsheet Review: Field Day 2.0

Meatsheet Review: Field Day - 2.0 single

Order 7" from RevHQ (release date 6/12/2020)

Two new songs from two of the members Dag Nasty. Peter and Doug carry the torch that was lit back when Wig Out was released. They were part of the Field Day line up and then that version of the band went on hiatus. These two songs have a renewed vigor and  energy. The production is tight and on par with the Field Day record. You can say what you want about Field Day from Dag Nasty but only a fool would say that production isn't incredible on that LP.

Field Day - Searching For The Answers

The 2.0 single carries similar production into these modern, uncertain times. The lyrics reflect the same turbulence. We Are The Future lyrics affirm that we need change and it can be done. Sung with humble confidence and urgency. The guitars on both songs are Brian Baker in tone which is fitting. Searching for the Answers sounds a little bit like Staring At the Rude Boys meets Values Here. This track has call and response lyrics that would make a great sing along live. The lyrics seem to pair intentionally with We Are The Change in the sense they're introspective and trying to make sense of things that don't seem quite right. I get the feeling that I got when I was a kid and wanted to make a change but all I had was Walk Together Rock Together on cassette and a skateboard. This is a grown up version of that feeling. If there is an LP I'm dying to hear it.
